CRITERIA FOR AWARDS:

CORPORATION OF THE YEAR (National member or Local member): A corporation that displays strong support for the MBEs as a community. This corporation generated interest at all levels of the company. In most cases, this corporation must have had strong impact increasing procurement opportunities for the MBEs in the Greater New England area by showing an increase in dollars awarded to MBEs from year to year. The corporation also displays strong support for the GNEMSDC and its efforts to develop business relationships with MBEs. The corporation is a role model for other corporations to follow and tracks its progress in developing MBEs and supportive activities.

BUYER OF THE YEAR: A professional employed in a purchasing role within a member organization of the GNEMSDC. This professional is characterized by outstanding and extraordinary efforts and/or initiative in developing minority business opportunities within his/her company. In most cases, this professional will have had a strong impact on increasing procurement opportunities for MBEs by showing an increase in dollars awarded to MBEs from year to year.  The Buyer is a role model for other procurement professionals to follow.

ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR: A professional employed within a member organization of the GNEMSDC. This professional had contributed in a significant way to expand minority business opportunities within the company, agency, or university at large. This Advocate has shown outstanding and extraordinary efforts and initiative to promote long term success for MBEs. This advocate also provides outstanding services to the Council, its goals, programs and events.

MBE EMPOWERMENT AWARD: A council certified MBE or Reciprocal MBE that does substantial business with other MBEs. To be eligible for consideration the nominee must be CURRENT with their certification and be in good standing.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY CERTIFED MBES & CORPORATIONS IN GOOD STANDING MAY SUBMIT NOMINATIONS FOR THE AWARDS.
